How to Keep Your Week From Falling Apart During the Holiday Madness
Nov 30, 2025
If December had a personality, it would be… chaotic, dramatic, and always running late.
Here in Louisiana, it hits even harder. School breaks start early, holiday traffic is a nightmare, work schedules shift on a whim, family drops in unannounced, and somehow your calendar magically fills itself overnight. Even if you don’t have kids, the month just feels different, busier, louder, more… everything.
So yeah, it’s no wonder your routines feel like they’ve completely fallen apart.
Here’s the thing most people get wrong: you don’t need a perfect routine to survive December. You just need a few anchors. Small habits that keep your days from totally unraveling.
That’s where mini routines come in.
I’m talking tiny, repeatable habits that give you a little sense of control when your week looks nothing like you planned.
Think of them like:
-
A little reset button for your day
-
A quick way to feel like you’re in charge
-
The bare minimum that keeps your house from looking like a holiday bomb went off
They matter because December is full of moving parts. Nothing stays predictable, and yet you still need a way to feel steady.
Here in Louisiana, that can look like:
-
Early school dismissals
-
Extra social events popping up out of nowhere
-
Pop-up parades and neighborhood gatherings
-
Heavy traffic in Hammond, Mandeville, and Covington
-
Weather that can’t decide if it’s hot, cold, or raining (or all of those in one day!)
-
More family visiting… and yes, more mess
Mini routines give you stability right in the middle of that chaos.
In this post, I’m just introducing the concept, no step-by-step instructions yet.
Think of this as laying the foundation:
-
Why mini routines matter
-
How they help
-
Why they’re doable, even when life is crazy
Because here’s the real deal: when December is spinning out, your goal isn’t to overhaul your life. It’s to find a few small habits that keep your week from completely falling apart.
Next up, I’ll show you exactly which mini routines actually work and how to fit them into your day, so you can survive December without losing your mind
